Theresa Hope.
My journey began back in 2009 where I had severe vertigo loss of balance was sent to a ENT specialist who diagnosed me with benign positional postural vertigo also had a MRI which showed a 1.6 cm incidental pineal cyst . Was treated by physio who performed Epley Manouver which helped the balance and vertigo but took nearly five months to feel near normal . I was also sent to a neurosurgeon for review who told me something that small wouldn't be causing your symptoms . He then sent me to a Neurologist who did blood tests and couldn't find a diagnosis . Continued working but feeling very fatigued and headaches were getting worse also had troubling sleeping and feeling anxious . By 2012 I started having trouble concentrating , had eye discomfort and saw the optometrist and changed prescription . Headaches were getting worse .
2013 was referred to another Neurologist who ordered another MRI showing the cyst was 1.8 cm Still couldn't give me a diagnosis symptoms were now constant headaches, reduced hearing with now wearing a hearing aide in right ear,eye pain and extreme fatigue . Continues working part time and noticed blurred vision at times and when driving couldn't read number plates on cars , vision and eye pain and light sensitivity and head-pain getting worse . Was taken to the emergency department with severe headaches head pressure , vomiting and baling out when bending down and admitted and treated for blocked venous sinus in brain still was told the cyst wasn't an issue. At this stage is was discharged back to the care of my neurologist who then thought I may have Inter-cranial hypertension . He ordered a lumbar puncture and sent me back to hospital where the procedure was refused . Sent to then see an ophthalmologist to see if pressure in optic nerve . My balance and vision were so severe I was now using a walking stick and some days was wheelchair bound also my quality of life was deteriorating fast . I didn't want to be on pain medication for the rest of my life .
By this stage I had enough of the incompetent medical profession and decided to write a personal letter to Dr Teo asking for help ! I had heard about him from other Facebook friends on the supportive pineal cyst website and seen him on television with his ground breaking treatments Within a few days I received a phone call which changed my life ! Flew to Sydney to see Dr Teo who wanted to operate the next day and didn't want me flying back as pressure too great in my brain from the pineal cyst ! Underwent on the 18/11/2013 a Partial Craniotomy to have my 2.2cm Pineal Cyst removed as it had severely blocked the cerebral aqueduct . Also had the Pineal Gland removed as it was damaged as cyst was inside it . As soon as I woke up had no head pressure pain and could hear . Dr Teo had saved my life !
